BSS, Rajshahi :
Both the public offices and corporate organizations are getting benefits of the e-services through linking the public and private offices with general people as a whole.
Peoples are availing their requisite services easily in one hand and income of the government from the respective service sectors are enhanced on the other hand. The two-way benefits will be further enhanced if all the civic service sectors are transformed into e-services.
“Our official activities like students’ registration, form fill-up for taking part in public examination and necessary communications between the enlisted schools and colleges were brought under e-services. We are getting tremendous benefits in this regard,” said Prof Dr Abul Hayat, Chairman of Rajshahi Education Board.
He says successful promotion of e-services in both public and private levels is very effective to bring dynamism, transparency and accountability in the public services.
Prof Hayat mentioned that the on-going digitization process is creating opportunity of self- employment across the country. The people now know about the digital Bangladesh, but most of them are not aware of the services and benefit of the process they would be enjoying in future.
SM Tuhinur Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education Development and ICT) says the digitization process had already created scope of employment and income generation in various ways including outsourcing, selling products through e-shop and offering different services in both rural and urban areas.
He said that a fundamental duty of a government is to provide information and services aimed at improving the social and economic welfare of its citizens.
Objective of the e-service is to increase transparency, improve governance, and reduce time, difficulty and costs of obtaining government services for under-served communities in the country.
The objectives are being achieved by strengthening existing e-services and launching a second generation of integrated, inter-operable e-government applications and sensitising government officials.
Training service providers and expanding digital literacy among the general people; forging strong policy and strategy links to ensure implementation of legal and regulatory changes required in support of the project and promoting innovation in the delivery of e-services are also supplementing the endeavors.
