A Dhaka court yesterday placed former E-orange owner Masukur Rahman and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Md Amanullah Chowdhury on a two-day remand each in a case filed on the charge of embezzlement of about Tk 23.25 lakh.
Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid of Dhaka CMM Court passed the order after Khalid Sheikh, a Sub-Inspector of Kotwali Police Station and Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced the two accused in the court with a 10-day remand plea.
The court also sent Sonia Mehjabin, former owner of E-orange and wife of Masukur Rahman, to the jail rejecting her bail prayer in the same case.
Sonia is the sister of suspended Inspector Sheikh Sohel Rana of Banani Police Station who was detained by India’s Border Security Force on last Friday.
In the remand prayer, the IO said both the accused, in collaboration with the other accused, misappropriated Tk 23,25000 from the customers. As such they need to be remanded to question them to find out more information.
