The e-commerce business has been expanding in Bangladesh rapidly and its volume will cross US$ 2000 crore by 2020 as the government is providing policy support and enhance facilities in this regard, analysts said.
As a result, many local and global entrepreneurs have joined the e-commerce business here in the country during the last few years. Recently, it gets a momentum as foreign entrepreneurs as well as foreign organisations are negotiating for big volume investment in the e-commerce sector.
According to the analysts, an India-based research and consultancy organisation Redseer has recently said the country’s e-commerce sector will grow up to 70 per cent this year and will exceed $11 crore by the year end.
By 2020, the e-commerce sector of Bangladesh will be worth $2000 core, said the research organization.
Redseer’s analysis shows that the current market of e-commerce is still only 7.2 percent of the country’s retail market while e-grocery market is $40-50 lakh, which is 3 per cent of consumer goods market.
Started in 2009, Redseer Management Consulting mainly focuses on several sectors, including automobiles, construction, healthcare, consumer goods, retail marketing, e-commerce, telecommunications and technology.
Redseer has identified three helpful indicators for the spread of e-commerce in Bangladesh. These are: a large population, densely populated area and rapidly growing economy.

These are: ensuring the real value of the product or services, reaching the consumer or the convenience of the customer, ensuring customer service, simplifying process, diversity and paying maximum value.
