Dwelling houses attacked , set on fire over land dispute in Chitalmari

Following the prevailing enmity between the two rival groups over land properties dwelling houses were attacked and fire was set on them.
 The incident took place in the village Kathipara within Santoshpur Union under Chitalmari Upazila in the district on Saturday morning.

 As many as ten persons including women and children were injured at the time of the incident. A tense situation has been prevailing there. Police were deployed there to bring the situation under control. Some of the injured persons were admitted into Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex for their treatment.
 Affected people alleged that an enmity had been prevailing between Amzad Shikdar and Adv. Bellal Sardar of the village for a long. On the day of occurrence at about 8 am Bellal Sadar and his associates attacked the house belonging to his opponent Amzad Shikdar and his brother Yunus Shikdar all on a sudden and set fire on the dwelling houses. As the male members of the family were absent from house the female inmates tried to resist them. Then the attackers swooped on the female inmates, As a result, 10 persons including a JSC examinee Ratna Aktar (14) were injured. Seriously injured Ratna Aktar (14) and Shahana Begum (55) were admitted to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex for their treatment.
Md. Rabiul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation), Chitalmari PS told the newsmen, police were deployed there and action taken will be taken after receiving the written complain.
Local UP member Kazi Mahatab Hossain disclosed to the newsmen, Bellal Sardar raided the houses of day- labourer Amzad Shikdar and his brother Yunus Shikdar, set fire their dwelling houses and beat the inmates of the houses with his hired hooligans.
