Dwellers suffer as prices of essentials go up in port city

 Prices of almost all types of vegetables have gone up by Tk 10-20 per kg in the city’s kitchen markets . Besides, prices of onion, soybean oil, pulses and rice have also gone up.
On Friday at Reazuddin Bazar and Chawkbazar Kitchen Market, potatoes cost Tk 45, barbati Tk 80, brinjal Tk 60, chichinga Tk 80, patal Tk 60, shrimp Tk 60, cucumber Tk 60, kankrol Tk 60, small arum 60 , Sweet pumpkin 40 rupees, raw papaya 40 taka, pumpkin 50 taka, radish 50 taka, cabbage 50 taka, cauliflower 50 taka, beans 130 taka, carrots 100 taka, tomatoes 130 taka and green chillies 200 taka per kg are being sold.
The price of fish has also gone up in the market. Hilsa weighing 500 grams to 1 kg 500-1000 taka, shrimp 400-600 taka, pabda 550 taka, loita 120-130 taka, tilapia 130-140 taka, rui 150-200 taka, catla 220-250 taka, coral 600 taka , Kai 400 taka, horn fish is being sold at 450 taka per kg.
Besides, broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 125, Pakistani layer at Tk 240, Sonali at Tk 220, local chicken at Tk 390, beef at Tk 750 and mutton at Tk 650-700. Eggs of every dozen farms are being taken at 120 taka.
Meanwhile, the price of rice has gone up again. Taka 50 per kg of good quality coarse rice in the market. 4 taka per kg has increased. Atap is being sold at Tk 45, Gerashail at Tk 60, Miniket Atap at Tk 52, Siddha at Tk 60 and paijams at Tk 52. Onions are being sold at Tk 95-100, soybean oil at Tk 5-10 per liter and pulses at Tk 5 per kg.
