The air quality in Dhaka city has not been improving for long days. Circumstance turns into devastating due to unplanned steps of the government, urban planners and experts say.

While asked about the present environmental situation of the megacity, Dr Nazrul Islam Nazem, Eminent urban planner and Professor of Geography and Environment of University of Dhaka said that living quality of the city dwellers has become intolerable gradually.
It is occurring continuously due to unplanned steps and unbridled corruption of the city representatives.
In fact, it is really very difficult to build an ideal city for two mayors if their local councilors are not honest and active. A ward councilor generally represents 3 or 4 local areas (Mohollas). So he cannot look after the whole area properly as he is alone. Rather I suggest the government to appoint local representatives for each Moholla, Dr Nazem also added.
The Department of Environment has also set national ambient air quality standards for these pollutants. These standards have aim to protect against adverse human health impacts.
Dhaka has long been grappling with air pollution. Its air quality usually improves during monsoon.
In this issue, Mohammad Sahabuddin, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that actually during the acyclovir, the air quality of Bangladesh goes to the worst situation but after the winter when rain stars the situation come to congenial.
It is noted that India’s Delhi, and Pakistan’s Lahore occupied the first and third spots in the list of cities with the worst air quality with AQI scores of 239, and 207 respectively.
