Business report :Dutch-Bangla Bank, under its social cause program, has been awarding scholarship to the meritorious students in need of financial aid studying at Higher Secondary, Graduation levels. Under this initiative, a total number of 38,563 students got DBBL scholarship among which 20,901 students of different levels are receiving the scholarship at present. In this connection, the Bank is going to award scholarships to 2,153 meritorious students who passed HSC/Equivalent Exam. in 2015 and studying at Graduation level in different universities/colleges of the country. Abul Maal A. Muhith, MP, Minister for Finance, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest while the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Anisul Huq, MP and H.E. Benoit-Pierre Laramee, the Hon’ble High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh were present as Special Guests and handed over the Scholarship Awarding Letters among the recipients at a ceremony held at Shaheed Surhawardy Indoor Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on April 02, 2016. Sayem Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Directors of Dutch-Bangia Bank presided over the function. K.S. Tabrez, Managing Director of the bank was also present at the function. Minister Abul Maal A. Muhith in his oration profusely lauded the scholarship program of Dutch-Bangla Bank and recalled other philanthropic activities of the Bank. He appreciated the DBBL’s continuous humanitarian and welfare activities and termed this Scholarship program as a unique example of helping the meritorious and needy students of the country. He expected that all the corporate bodies of the country would come forward with such programs for the benefit of the society. Minister Anisul Huq lauded the role of DBBL in connection with philanthropic activities to stand by the distress people of the country, adding that DBBL is also a pioneer in providing modern banking services to its clients. He congratulated the scholarship awardees and expected that they would dedicate themselves by achieving real education. While speaking on the occasion, Benoit Pierre Laramee appreciated Dutch-Bangia Bank for its generous initiative to build the future of the underprivileged students which would go a long to the development of the human resources of the country. He also congratulated the students who got DBBL’s Scholarship. Sayem Ahmed, Honorable Chairman, Board of Directors of Dutch-Bangla Bank in his speech said that since inception, as a responsible corporate body, DBBL has been playing a pioneering role in implementing social and philanthropic programs to help disadvantaged people of the society. A number of sectors are on the priority list of the bank including education, healthcare, and rehabilitation of distressed people where the bank carries out its social and philanthropic activities. He also mentioned that 90% of total scholarship is earmarked for the students who passed from the institutions in rural areas and 50% of total scholarship is earmarked for female students. The Chairman extended his gratitude and thanks to the Ministers and all the guests for attending and gratifying the scholarship awarding ceremony.
