UNB, Dhaka :Dhaka University Teachers’ Association on Saturday strongly condemned the incident of sexual harassment of some women during Pahela Baishakh celebrations on the Dhaka University campus.In a statement, DUTA said “Sexual harassment of some women by a group of youths at the Suhrawardy Udyan gate has tainted our heritage. It seems that the incident is pre-planned. Some ill attempts were made in the past to stop the celebration of Bangla New Year, the incident of the last Pahela Baishakh was not a stray one.””We strongly condemn and protest such heinous and barbaric incident of repression and demand immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the real culprits,” it added On April 14, a group of youths assaulted and sexually harassed some women at the Suhrawardy Udyan gate near TSC of Dhaka University during the Bangla New Year celebrations.
