Dupchanchia upazila Freedom Day was observed with due honor on Monday. One December 13 in 1971 hundreds of freedom fighters entered into the thana headquarter from Pakistani Army.
Dupchanchia upazila Muktijuddha Sangsad and other organizations chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the day befitting manner. It had a glorious role in the historic liberation war of 1971.
The day (December 13) is considered as the most significant and remarkable day for the inhabitants of the upazila, many named and unnamed freedom fighter embraced martyrdom at the last battle in the area. Freedom fighter attack Pakistani army on the night of December 10.
Later the freedom fihgter organisation arranged a discussion meeting at upazila campus presided over freedom fighet commander Abdul Mazid while upazila nirbahi officer Shaheed Parvez speaking in the meeting as Chief Guest.
