DUJA protests attacks on journos at CU, JnU

Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA) on Monday condemned and protested recent wave of attacks by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men on working journalists at Chittagong University (CU) and Jagannath University (JnU) campus.
DUJA President Asif Taasin and General Secretary Mahmadul Hasan Nayon came up this issuing a statement over attacks on campus journalists who were gathering news of quota reform movement.
In the statement, the leaders said, Campus journalists at various universities came under attack by BCL men while they were observing their duty during quota reform movement in several times.  
At least 15 journalists were assaulted at Dhaka University in last three months but university authority has failed to take any steps against them which are the threat for the freedom of press.
On Sunday, online news portal `Jago news’ CU reporter was assaulted by BCL CU unit leader when he was collecting news of quota reform movement. The reporter was also threatened hack to death by another BCL leader.
Meanwhile, at the same day at JnU, at least five journalists came under attack by BCL men when they were collecting news of a procession of Progressive Students’ Alliance.
In both incidents, university authorities have yet to take any steps against culprits. Condemning these incidents DUJA has demanded exemplary punishment of those culprits.
