Leaders of a faction of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) on Saturday expressed their firm commitment to reunite the divided unions as soon as possible.
They came up with the vow in a joint meeting held at the DUJ office of the Jatiya Press Club with its President Elahi Newaz Khan Saju in the chair, said a press release.
Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, DUJ General Secretary Khairul Alam Bakul, former DUJ General Secretary Sardar Farid Ahmed, journalist leaders Syed Mejbah Uddin, Amirul Islam Kagoji, DUJ senior Vice-President Mahfuzur Rahman and Vice-President Alimuzzaman Harun, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The union leaders also renewed their demanded for the immediate announcement of the 9th wage board, implementation of the 8th wage board in all newspapers, and reinstatement of the retrenched journalists of all the print and electronic media.
