At least six injured activists of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council (BGSRPC) are still under treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
They are now suffering from various diseases after the brutal attacks by some activists of the Muktijuddho Mancha and Chhatro League leaders on December 22 on the Dhaka University campus.
Among them, two victims namely Ariful Islam and Mehedi Shoel are now facing kidney complications, sources said.
Meanwhile, DUCSU members who were elected under the banner of BCL at a press conference on Sunday placed a six-point demand, including withdrawal of ‘false cases’ filed against their leaders and activists over the incident.
They also claimed that DUCSU members and BCL leaders and activists have no connection with the incident..
DUCSU Assistant General Secretary Saddam Hossain read out a written statement, held at the DUCSU building around 11:15am, where he blamed Nur and his supporters for the untoward incident.
Saddam also alleged that DUCSU VP Nur and his followers have stolen the CCTV footage of the incident. Legal action will be taken against the outsiders who came to DUCSU office as associates of Nur on the day of incident, he added.
On the other hand, DUCSU Social Welfare Secretary Akter Hossain, in a separate briefing said that it has become clear to all that who have taken the CCTV footage from the DUSCU office. BCL, he said, rather wants to harass us to stop our activities on the campus.
Meanwhile, Muktijuddho Mancha and BCL have filed two more cases with Shahbagh and Dhanmondi police stations against VP Nur and 28 others accusing them of theft and attempting to murder.
