DU VC pays tributes to Comrade Jasim Uddin

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman on Tuesday paid tributes to veteran communist leader Comrade Jasim Uddin Mandal by placing a wreath at his coffin at the Central Shaheed Minar in the city.
Comrade Jasim, a former presidium member of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), breathed his last at Health and Hope Hospital at Panthapath in the city on Monday morning at the age of 95.
His body was taken to the Central Shaheed Minar in the morning on Tuesday and was kept there for the people of all strata to pay respect.
Earlier, in a condolence message on Monday, the DU VC recalled Jasim Uddin Mandal’s role in the anti-British movement as well as in the anti-Ayub movement during the Pakistan rule.
“Jasim Uddin Mandal was a benevolent man. Comrade Jasim will be considered a source of inspiration for the young generation’, he added.
He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
