Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr M Akhtaruzzaman expressed deep shock at the death of Professor Dr Sheikh Shamimul Alam, said a university press release on Tuesday.
“The VC sought eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his sympathy to his bereaved family members,” the release added.
Dhaka University botany department Professor Dr Sheikh Shamimul Alam died on Monday at a Singapore hospital at the age of 56.
Professor Dr Alam was born in Kushtia on September 2, 1960. Dr Alam had joined as lecturer at botany department on October 4, 1988.
He was promoted as assistant professor on September 11, 1995, associate professor on November 20, 1999 and professor on December 1, 2004.
