AAMS Arefin Siddique was awarded “World Teachers’ Day Award” for his outstanding contribution to the development of education and research in the country.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over the award to Prof Arefin as the chief guest at a function held on Monday at the TSC auditorium of DU. World Teachers’ Day-2015 National Observance Committee organized the event to mark the day.
Chief Coordinator of National Front of Teachers & Employees (NFTE) Professor Quazi Faruque Ahmed presided over the function while Vice-President of Global Campaign for Education (GCE) Rasheda K. Chowdhury and Officer-in-Charge of UNESCO, Dhaka Kiichi Oyasu addressed it as special guests. Seven other eminent educationists of the country have also received the World Teachers’ Day Award this year.
