Society for Anti-Addiction Movement (SAAM) gave an award to Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique on Tuesday as he had imposed a ban on smoking on the campus.
SAAM leaders handed over the award to the vice-chancellor at a function marking the World No Tobacco Day (May 31) today at the VC’s office adjoining lounge.
DU Mass Communication and Journalism Department chairman Professor Mofizur Rahman, SAAM vice-president Lieutenant General (retd) Abdul Hafiz and online news portal thereport24.com editor Touhidul Islam Mintu were present on the occasion.
Earlier, SAAM leaders and workers brought out a colourful procession from Aparajeyo Bangla on the campus which ended at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban after parading different city thoroughfares.
