Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman denied on Tuesday while talking to a group of journalists said that he had not called the quota reformists involved in militancy as his earlier remark drew sharp reaction from all sections of the society.
The VC, however, said the varsity authorities have decided to set up security check posts on the campus to restrict movement of outsiders into the varsity area to avert infiltration on who in his words are instigating the quota reform movement.
It is also important to keep the situation calm to maintain study environment, the VC said justifying the decision to set up the check-posts.
Earlier Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan also dubbed the quota movement students as work of left leftists and religion groups linked to Jamaat-e-Islam to appease the government.
