DU to celebrate Victory Day

Dhaka University (DU) has chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the Victory Day today in a befitting manner.
The programmes include hoisting of national flag at main buildings of the university including vice-chancellor’s Bhaban at 6.15 am. DU students, teachers, officials and workers will gather at the Aparajeya Bangla at 6.30 am and proceed towards National Memorial at Savar to place wreaths.
Marking the day, Teacher-Student Centre (TSC), Arts Faculty building and Curzon Hall will be illuminated. Voluntary blood donation programme will take place at TSC. Besides, screening of films, photo exhibitions and documentary on Liberation War will be organized at different dormitories.
DU and cultural organisation Chhayanaut will jointly organise “Bijoy Utsab” (Victory Festival) at 3.50 pm at the university’s central playground.

Some 4,000 singers of Chhayanaut, DU Music Department and other organisations across the country will take part in the chorus patriotic songs including the national anthem “Amar Sonar Bangla, Ami Tomai Valobashi.”
Another cultural function will take place at the TSC auditorium at 6.30 pm. Prayers will be held at university central mosque and different dormitory mosques after Zohr prayers. DU Jagannath Hall will also offer prayers at its Upasanaloy seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs.
