The University of Dhaka is set to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bengali new year, amid festivity and fanfare.
Different departments, institutes and organisations of the university have undertaken separate programmes to celebrate the day with much enthusiasm.With the theme “Manush Vojle Shonar Manush Hobi”, the Faculty of Fine Art will bring out the traditional Mangal Shobhajatra from its premises at 9 am with a call to establish a non-communalism society.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will lead the procession.
Earlier, a musical function organised by DU Music Department will start at Battala in front of Arts building at 8 am.
