Cancellation of affiliation: DU students to continue demo

A group of Dhaka University (DU) students, who have been protesting for cancellation of affiliation with the seven colleges, declared that they will continue their peaceful demonstration until their demands are met.
Shakil Mia, spokesperson of the ongoing movement said it on Wednesday at 11:30am in a press briefing in front of DU central library.
“Our demand is to cancel the affiliation of seven colleges.As the university authorities didn’t assure scrapping its ties with the colleges, we will continue the demonstration until our demands are fulfilled,” said Shakil, also a 4th year student of DU. The demonstrators brought out a protest procession at 12:00 noon on the campus to press home their four-point demands.The also boycotted classes and examinations and locked up academic and administrative buildings that time.
On the other hand, some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) took position in various academic and the administrative buildings since 6:00m so that the demonstrators can’t lock up the buildings. Few classes and examinations were held in  
various departments under the protection of the ruling party student wing.
On February 17, 2017, the government affiliated Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College with Dhaka University.
