DU student found dead at city hotel

Police have recovered the hanging body of a student of Dhaka University (DU) from a residential hotel on Topkhana Road in the capital.
The deceased student was identified as Adnan Shakib, 25, son of one Abdul Malek from Nilphamari district.
The body was recovered from Room No. 107 of a Hotel named Karnafuli in the early hours of Thursday, said Mahfuzul Haque Bhuiyan, Inspector (Investigation) of Shahbagh Police Station.
At that time a note was also found in his room.
Adnan was a student of the International Relations Department for 2014-15 session.
His home town is in Dimla upazila of Nilphamari district.
Inspector Mahfuz said that they found Adnan’s hanging body after breaking the door of the hotel room. “We initially thought that he had committed suicide,” he said.
He was married. His wife’s name is Nusrat Afrin, also a student of the same university.
On Wednesday morning, his wife lodged a GD with the police as she could not communicate with Adnan on Tuesday night and his mobile phone was switched off.
Inspector Mahfuz further said that they found a note in the room, describing his wife as “the cleanest person in the world. Adnan also said on the note that no one was responsible for his death, and he was under stress.
Talking to Adnan family, police official came to know that he was sinking in frustration. The body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College & Hospital.
Meanwhile, hotel authorities said that the student came to the hotel on Tuesday. On Wednesday night, the staff of the hotel called on the police as they did not get response from inside. Police went and broke down the door around 12:30 pm and recovered the body.
DU Proctor Professor Dr A K M Golam Rabbani also confirmed the matter to the media.
