Akhter Hossain, a student of Dhaka University (DU) who went on hunger strike on Tuesday demanding cancellation of ‘Gha’ unit results and retaking of the admission test, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday after he fell sick.
Akhter, a third year student of Law Department and a resident of Ziaur Rahaman Hall, started his hunger strike at the foot of Raju memorial sculpture at 12 noon on Tuesday protesting leakage of question paper in the ‘Gha’ unit admission test.
He fell sick in front of DU Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani when he went there to break Akhtar’s fast.
Law Faculty dean Prof Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah was also present at that time.
Akhter also demanded punishment of those who were involved in the “question paper leak” and appropriate measures from the authorities to stop such incidents in future.
DU Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani said, “As University Vice-chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman is out of the country, we told him to wait until his arrival. But he denied our proposal and vowed to continue his protest.” “Unfortunately, his condition turned worse and we took him to the hospital. Now he is under supervision of doctors,” he added.
