Police recovered the hanging body of a university girl from Elephant Road in the city on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Maria Akhter, 20, a 2nd year student of Dhaka University’s history department.
Maria committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in the rented residence at Concord Tower at Elephant Road in the morning.
Maria’s elder sister told Banglanews that they live in the residence. They found Maria hanging from a ceiling fan at about 6:00 am. She was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on duty doctors declared her dead at about 7:00 am.
