A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday between Department of Microbiology of Dhaka University (DU) and Novelta Bestway Pharmaceuticals Limited (NBPL) at a simple ceremony held at the Vice-Chancellor’s (VC’s) office of Dhaka University.
Mollick Mahmood Hossain, Managing Director of the company and Treasurer of DU Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Prof Dr Anwar Hossain of the Department of Microbiology, Acting Registrar of the university Syed Rezaur Rahman and senior officials of both organisations were present, among others, on the occasion.
Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the NBPL authority for signing the MoU.
He hoped that through signing this MoU a new horizon will be opened up
in the field of pharmaceuticals research which will play an important role in
expansion of this industry.
The prime objective of this MoU is to have industry-academia collaboration to cooperate in viral vaccine strain development, epitome peptide designing, constant monitoring of FMDV field strain to indentify the variants, development of appropriate vaccine strains, development of kit(s) and methods for virus identification and development of recombinant products of biomedical interest.
At the same time both organisations will put an effort to promote research
and development activities to enhance opportunities for developing new
vaccine seeds, reference antigens and other important issues of this field.
