DU progs to observe Nazrul’s death anniv

The Dhaka University (DU) has drawn up programmes to observe the 41st death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on Sunday.
The programmes will begin with Qurankhwani after Fajr prayers at the university’s central mosque, said a DU press release.
DU teachers, students, officers and employees will assemble at “Aparajeyo Bangla” in front of Kala Bhaban at 7.15 am on the day. They will bring out a procession from there and proceed towards the mazar of the poet adjacent to the university’s central mosque.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will lead the procession to place wreath at the grave of the poet.
A discussion will be held on the mazar premises with Prof Siddique in the chair. Bangla
Department Chairman Professor Bismadeb Chowdhury will conduct it.
Kazi Nazrul Islam was buried beside a mosque on Dhaka University campus as per rebel poet’s wish.
