DU programmes to observe Amar Ekushey

Dhaka University (DU) authority has chalked out a series of programmes to observe Amar Ekushey, the International Mother Language Day on February 21 with due respect.
University’s “Central Coordination Committee for Observing Amar Ekushey” and various sub-committees are working to observe the day smoothly and peacefully.
Teachers, students and various organaisations of DU will place wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar to pay homage to the Language Movement heroes early today.
A Provat Feri (Dawn March) led by DU Vice-Chancellor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will be brought out at 6: 30 am from the base of Aparajeya Bangla Sculpture.
Senate and Syndicate members of DU, teachers, students and staffs will join the Provat Feri. After offering Fateha to the martyrs of language movement at Azimpur Graveyard, the procession will place wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to the martyrs.
DU will also arrange special prayer for the martyrs at all the masques of the campus including DU Central Mosque Masjidul Jamia after Zohr prayer.
Meanwhile, However, DU authority held a discussion meeting with the members of Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA) on Sunday night at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Auditorium with a view to observing Amar Ekushey with due sincerity.
DU Proctor Golam Rabbani, DUJA President Asifur Rahman, DUJA General Secretary Mahmudul Hasan Nayon, assistant proctors, and the members of DUJA were present at the view-exchange discussion.
