Prof Dr Sheikh Shamimul Alam, Director of Chromosome Research and Institutional Quality Assurance Centre at University of Dhaka, died at Singapore National University Hospital on Monday at the age of 56.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the DU Central Mosque on Wednesday after Zohr prayers.
He left behind his wife, a daughter, a son and a host of relatives, friends and admirers to mourn the death. Prof Alam was the winner of DU Dean’s Gold Medal, Justice Ibrahim Gold Medal and Japan Wada Cytologia journal best research award.
