A Professor of Mathematics Department of Dhaka University, Md. Nurul Islam, was sacked from the university on charges of sexually harassing a female student not only that he will not be entitled to pension amount of Tk. One crore and 15 lakh.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the university syndicate on the victim submitted a written complaint to the University Administration.
The DU administration formed a five members committee led by Pro-Vice Chancellor Shahid Akter Hussain. Other members of the committee were
Social Science Faculty Dean Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed, Sir PJ Hartong International Hall Provost Professor Md. Lutfor Rahman, Assistant Professor of English Department Mrs. Nilima Akther and Senior Advocate of Supreme Court AFM Mejbahuddin.
Meanwhile, an official of IBA of the University named Muhibul Hasan was sacked for not ensuring transparency in the internal examination of the University.
It may be mentioned that in 2015, Professor Md. Nurul Islam was going to his room with some books and at the same time, the victim was passing alongside him. The teacher requested her to reach the books in his room by showing his senility causes; when she entered his room Professor Nurul closed the door and trying to sexually harassing her.
