Members of proctorial team of Dhaka University were attacked by some outsiders in front of outdoor department of Dhaka Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile four outsiders including women were arrested and also handed over them to the law enforcement agency in this connection.
The incident took place at 10.30 pm.
Proctor of the university AKM Golam Rabbani confirmed the matter to the media and said that several members of the proctorial team were injured.
According to the proctor, in order to decrease the influence of outbreak of covid-19, they had decided to remove the floating shops from the university area. As part of their initiatives, some members of proctorial team went to evict the shops from the outdoor department of DMCH.
At that time, the outsiders were told to leave the place with their shops but they were not going.
Even they did not try to understand the matter about the importance of the drive.
At one stage outsiders attacked the team members leaving several members of the team injured, proctor said.
Four people were arrested for the attack and handed over to the Sahabagh Police Station.
Officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station Mohammad Mamun-Aur-Rashid said that the four detainees had been taken into police custody. Legal action will be taken against them after interrogation.
