Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday observed the National Mourning Day and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner.
National flag was hoisted at half-mast and black flag was hoisted at all university buildings and halls as a mark of respect to the martyrs of August 15, 1975.
A discussion on “Life and Works of Bangabandhu” was organised at Teacher-Student center (TSC) auditorium with DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair.
Pro VC (Admin) Professor Dr M Akhtaruzzaman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Kamal Uddin, President of DU Teachers Association Prof ASM Maksud Kamal and General Secretary Prof Rahmat Ullah were also joined the discussion, among others.
The speakers discussed the life and works of Bangabandhu and his contribution towards building the nation.
Meanwhile, an art competition was held at TSC and Fine Arts Faculty organised by DU and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) marking the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Besides, Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA) organised a photo exhibition titled ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ at the indoor premises of TSC with about hundred rear photographs on Bangabandhu and Liberation War.
DU VC Prof Dr Arefin Siddique inaugurated the programme as the chief guest with DUJA president Forhad Uddin in the chair.
