A trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among Governance Innovation Unit (GIU) of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Public Administration Department of Dhaka University (DU) and Civil Service Change Management Programme (CSCMP) of the Ministry of Public Administration (MoPA) on Thursday at DU Vice-Chancellor’s office in the capital.
DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Director General of GIU, Additional Secretary Md. Abdul Halim and National Project Director of CSCMP, Additional Secretary Dilruba signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations aiming to promote education, research and concepts, ideas and practices of public service innovation.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, chairman of the Department of Public Administration Prof Dr Musleh Uddin Ahmed Tareq, DU Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman and high officials of GIU, DU and CSCMP were present on the occasion.
Under this MoU, an orientation session on the concepts, ideas and practices of public service innovation will be organized for the masters students of the DU Public Administration Department. At the same time, final year masters students of the same Department will be selected to undertake internship in the GIU and CSCMP for periods from 3 to 6 months.
Besides, joint research programmes by Public Administration Department, GIU and CSCMP will be organized on public service innovation.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arefin Siddiqe thanked Prime Minister and her office for the initiative to form a unit like GIU and for taking initiative to sign this MoU.
