The Dhaka University (DU) authority received Taka 20 lakh donation further to enhance the capital of Kabi Jasimuddin Hall Trust Fund of the university.
Kabi Jasimuddin Hall Provost Professor Dr Md Rahmat Ullah handed over a cheque for Taka 20 lakh on the 10th instant to DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin at the Vice-Chancellor (VC) office to enhance the fund’s capital.
VC Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr Md Abdul Aziz, Acting Registrar Md Enamuzzaman and House Tutors of Kabi Jasimuddin Hall were present, among others, on the occasion.
Earlier, Provost of Kabi Jasimuddin Hall handed over another cheque for Taka 30 lakh to DU Treasurer on August 3 to set up this trust fund. Now, the total capital of the fund is Taka 50 lakh.
Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student of Kabi Jasimuddin Hall will be awarded gold medal. Besides, 20 meritorious students of the hall will be given scholarship, the release added.
Prof Akhtaruzzaman thanked the Provost of Kabi Jasimuddin Hall for setting up the trust fund.
“I hoped that the students would be highly benefited by this donation,” he added.
According to the release, this amount has been collected from different internal sources of the hall.
