DU Jagannath Hall labs, structure get names

Several buildings, a computer laboratory and an e-library of Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University have got names.
The computer laboratory at October Smriti Bhaban has been named after noted litterateur and social reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar while e-library, yet to be set up, at Santosh Chandra Bhattacharya Bhaban has been named after one of the pioneers of the Language Movement of 1952 and social worker Dhirendranath Datta.
Besides, a residential teachers’ building beside the dormitory’s Provost Bungalow named after Professor Anudwaipayan Bhattacharya who was killed by the Pakistan occupation army on March 25, 1971.
The conference room at the Santosh Chandra Bhattacharya Bhaban has been named after the hall’s first provost Professor Dr Naresh Chandra Sengupta.
“We took the initiative to name different buildings and labs after the names of noted personalities to honor them,” Jagannath Hall Provost Professor Asim Sarker told.
