DU holds ‘Gha’ unit entry test 55-year-old Balayet takes part at the exam

The ‘Gha’ unit entry test of Dhaka University under 2021-22 academic session was held on Saturday from 11am to 12.30pm in all eight divisions of the country, where one student attended the examination from Jail.
It was held under the supervision of Social Sciences Faculty where 78,032 candidates applied for 1,336 seats, meaning that 58 candidates sat for one seat.
Moreover, a 55-year-old man, Balayet Sheikh, also took part in the test at FR Mujibur Rahman Ganit Bhaban of DU.
Balayet wants to study in the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of the university.
Balayet Sheikh, who lives in Mawna of Gazipur, always dreamt of being a student of DU, but circumstances and financial constraints stood on his way.
“I will continue my study. If I don’t get a chance at DU, then I have taken the application form for admission test in Rajshahi, Jahangirnagar and the university under GST, I will sit for the test there,” Balayet said.
The exam took place outside Dhaka at Chittagong University, Rajshahi University, Khulna University, Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet, Barishal University, and Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman and others of administrative body of the university visited the exam hall of Social Science Faculty and said that the examination is being held peacefully with high security measures.
The admission test for Dhaka University will end on June 17 by holding the test for ‘Cha’ unit.
