A delegation of History Club’ 85 of Dhaka University (DU) made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Sunday.
During the meeting, the 12-member delegation, led by Professor Dr Asha Islam, apprised the President of the activities of the History Club, President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB after the meeting.
They also apprised the President that the club provides stipends and scholarships among poor and meritorious students. The club has a plan to extend cooperation for history based different research activities, they added.
Extending his thanks for their activities for people’s welfare, President Hamid expressed hope that they would come forward with more social welfare activities through mutual cooperation.
Such initiatives of different social organisations side by side the government would expedite social development of the country, he said. Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
