Allegations have been made against Dhaka University’s Begum Ruqayyah Hall Provost Professor Dr Zeenat Huda by employees of the Hall of doing her household works alongside doing official works.
Lima Akhter, Office Assistant (cooking) of Begum Ruqayyah hall alleged, “Prof. Zeenat Huda has a house servant. The servant cooks the breakfast but most of the time I have to prepare her dinner. I am a government employee, not the provost’s personal servant.”
She also accused administration of Begum Ruqayyah hall for making her do her personal job.
Another employee alleged that provost made them to wash her dresses. Moreover, a group of employees staged a sit-in protest on the hall premises regarding the transferring of Mintu Mia to the register office claiming it is illegal.
Mintu Mia was a 3rd- class employee and office assistant of Begum Ruqayyah hall also the general secretary of Ruqayyah hall workers welfare association who has been transferred to the register office along with the post that he is holding without explaining any reason of transfer.
Shahabuddin, president of Ruqayyah hall workers welfare association, said, with this transfer process, the post will also be removed. We have nothing to do with Mintu Mia but we, the employees of this hall, are under heavy pressure as the number of employees in this hall is inadequate to meet the demand of works. If the post is removed, we will be in more pressure.”
“Since yesterday, We have been trying to meet provost to claim our demands but she isn’t responding us,” she added.
Protesting employees said, if we speak against her, she threatens us of locking our salaries allowances and stop our promotions.
“As Mintu Mia spoke against these corruptions, provost transferred him to the register office,” protesters said.
