DU ‘Gha’ unit pass rate 61.1pc

The authority of Dhaka University (DU) has, ever first, published its admission test result on Monday evening without holding any press briefing.
Press briefing is a formal session holds for announcing result where university Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, convener of examinations and deans of different faculties were present and replied many queries concerning entry test.
But on Monday at 5:00 pm, DU authority published the result of the freshly held ‘Gha’ unit admission test for 2018-2019 session in its website without meeting journalists.
In retaking test under the Faculty of Social Sciences, a total of 16,181 students, who scored pass mark 48 in previous test held on October 12, took part in the fresh examination on Saturday against 1615 seats where 9,886 students obtained pass mark.
Of them, 6,814 Students passed from Science section, 1,900 from Humanities and 1,172 from Business studies. The pass rate is 61.1 percent.
However, after publishing result, a group of university correspondents from different media outlets went to DU VC Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman’s office to know the ins and out of the result.
But the VC declined to make any comment in this regard and asked journalists to talk with Prof Sadeka Halim, dean of concerned faculty of Social Sciences to know about this matter.
Noted, ‘Gha’ unit admission test was held on October 12 amid the allegation of question paper leak. Amid widespread allegations of question leak, the admission test results for the unit of this year was published on October 16 with 26.21% pass rate, highest for this unit in the last five years.
