Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Akhtaruzzaman on Monday said, they are determined to hold a participatory and acceptable Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election.
The VC also asked for everyone’s cooperation to make the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) polls regular and successful.
He told it in a press conference at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhavan ahead of DUCSU election.
Professor Akhtaruzzaman read out a written statement which says there is no doubt that the students have been deprived of the skilled and efficient leadership they have been desiring for years. I hope that we can succeed in burying this culture of deprivation in the future.
“I am looking for the sincere goodwill and kind cooperation of teachers, students police and employees so that the DUCSU election becomes a ‘calendar event’ of the University,” VC said.
“We are happy that all the students are participating regardless of political views. Everyone is passing their

opinions and campaigning freely’, the VC said in the statement.
“We hope and wish that the coexistence and exercise of democratic values will continue that exists currently’, he added the statement.
The University’s website published the final list of candidates for the DUCSU and hall parliamentary elections on Sunday.
A total of 229 candidates are contesting for 25 DUCSU posts. There are a total of 43,173 voters in this election.
Twenty-one students are competing for the post of Vice-President, 14 are contesting for the post of General Secretary and 13 are competing for the Assistant General Secretary post.
