Dhaka University Cultural Society (DUCS) celebrated “Bashonto Utshab-1425” (Spring Festival) amid festivity and fanfare.
The day-long festival was held on Thursday on Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) premises on the campus.Actor Lucky Inam, dancer Sharmila Bandapadhyay and recite artist Vashwar Bandapadhyay were honoured with lifetime achievement awards from DUCS. While addressing the programme, DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman said, “Every nation’s most powerful reflection is its cultural activities. The more we’ll keep ourselves connected with it, the more the spirit of Liberation War, secularity, humanity, liberal moral values will spread among us.”
Deputy Office Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and Special Secretary to the Prime Minister Biplob Barua said, “Our university students across the globe hold the spirit of spring.”
The daylong event hosted monkey show, puppet dance, merry go round, cockfight, puthipath, kirton and various other folklore cultural presentations. Cultural performances of the students of Dhaka University, bands like Dolchut, Gaankobi and Krishnopokkho performed in the concert session.
Advisor of TSC Professor Shoumitra Shekhar, DUCSU Assistant General Secretary (AGS) Saddam Hussain, DUCSU Cultural Secretary Asif Talukdar, DUCS President Ragib Rahman addressed the function while DUCS moderator Sabrina Sultana Chowdhury presided over the function.
