Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday celebrated the launching process of Bangabandhu-1 satellite, the country’s first geostationary communication satellite which started its voyage towards the orbital slot from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, the USA.
DU family enjoyed the launching of the satellite on big projection screens at two places on the campus and celebrated the historical moment with amid festivity and fanfare.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, President of Dhaka University Teachers’ Association Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, provosts of some residential halls, teachers and officials enjoyed the launching on big projection screens at Teachers-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium from 1:45 am.
The historic event of Bangladesh’s debut in the space society took place at 2:14 am Bangladesh time.
