DU admission test rules for 2014-15

Admission process for session 2014-2015 will begin from September 5 next month for the University of Dhaka (DU), the highest educational institution of the country and famously known as the Oxford of East.
This year the admission test of ‘Ga’ Unit under the Faculty of Business will be held first. Currently the online application process for student’s admission is running, which will run till August 31, 2014. This year the administration of DU has introduced a few new rules for admission test.
Use of calculators prohibited in the exam: Few students were caught last year for the forgery in the admission test by using the calculator. So this year, the use of Calculator has banned to stop the digital falsehood.
DU VC assured, “There will be no complex questions in the admission test that could need a calculator to solve. That’s why there will be no effect on the students if the calculator is banned”.
Advanced English: This year for the first time the students of who want to study in English through the ‘Gha’ Unit are directed to answer the Advanced English sheet instead of Bangladesh Affairs.
Students did not have to answer the Advanced English in the previous years. But this year the students cannot take the English course from ‘Gha’ Unit without answering the Advanced English.
Seats are increased: A total of 6 thousand and 582 students will have the opportunity to be admitted in 2014-15 academic session. The number was 6 thousand and 433 in the last year. Vice-Chancellor has confirmed that this year has increased by 149 seats. But the seat number of ‘Kha’ Unit reduced this year.
According to the University, last year the seats were 1 thousand and 593 for Science, Biology, Pharmacy, Earth and Environmental Sciences and Engineering Technology faculties under ‘Ka’ Unit. But this year, the number of seats has increased to 1 thousand and 640.
1 thousand and 75 students were allowed to be admitted in last year in the Business Studies (Business Education) faculties under ‘Ga’ Unit. But this year it has increased to 1 thousand and 170 seats.
Last year, a total of 1 thousand and 336 students had been admitted through the combined ‘Gha’ Unit. But this year the seats has increased to 1 thousand and 416 students will have the opportunity to be admitted.
Total 119 students had the chance last year to be admitted in the Faculty of Arts (All Branches) under ‘Cha’ Unit. This year a total of 135 students will have the opportunity to be admitted.
However, the seat number of ‘Kha’ Unit under the Arts, Social Sciences and Law faculties decreases this year. Last year, the number of seats was 2 thousand and 310. But this year the number of seats decreased to 2 thousand and 221.
