The total turnover of foreign trade in the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by 30.48 percent or Taka 2,674.34 crore year-on-year with a total turnover of Taka 11,447.63 crore in 2017.
In 2016, the total turnover of the foreign trade was Taka 8,773.29 crore, according to official data of DSE.
“Due to the government’s time befitting measures, stock markets are gradually becoming lucrative among the local and foreign investors. Now the foreign investors are showing interest to invest in the Bangladesh stock markets,” Azam Securities Limited Managing Director Ahmed Kabir Majumder told BSS.
He expressed the hope that the foreign trade in the Bangladesh stock markets will increase further in 2018.
Foreign investors are keen to invest in the market as the overseas investors bought shares worth Taka 6,576.29 crore and sold shares of Taka 4,871.34 crore in 2017.
