DSE turnover reaches 5-week high

Share transactions at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reached five- week high at close on Tuesday, but the major indices decline on price fall across the board.
The daily trade volume of 9.33 crore shares and value of Taka 626.65 crore were the highest in the past five weeks after transaction of 10.10 crore shares worth Taka 646.54 crore on February 27 this year.
Despite the high turnover, the general DSEX and the blue-chip DS30 indices of the prime bourse finished lower when the Sharia DSES index inched up. The DSEX closed the day 0.46 percent down at 4586.91 and the DS30 0.10 percent lower at 1682.07. The DSES eased up with marginal 0.21 percent increase to 1021.85.
The fall in share prices of 200 issues including the large capitalized companies Grameen Phone, Padma Oil and Squire Pharmaceutical drove the major indices down.
