The daily share transactions in value on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) hit eight-month low on Monday as the stock market extended the falling trend for the two consecutive days of the week.
The daily trade value at DSE on Monday was Taka 342.01 crore, which was the lowest after September 18, 2016 when the total turnover in value tallied at Taka 314.92 crore. The trade volume also declined on the day to 11.55 crore shares from Sunday’s 12.71 crore shares.
The low-level of activities caused further 12.15 points fell of the broader DSEX index that closed the session at 5356.58. The two selective indices – the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES – also finished the session of the week in red at 1989.26 and 1248.07 respectively.
At DSE, out of the day’s 322 securities, prices of 94 securities closed higher against 178 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were SEMLIBBLSF, MERCINS, Islami Insurance, Tosrifa and MIRACLEIND. The major losing companies were Paramount, Jute Spinning, PTL, Dulamia Cotton and NCC Bank.
PTL topped the turnover list followed by RSRM Steel, Regent Textile, IFAD Autos and Square Pharma.
