DSE sees record transaction

Trading at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) remained bullish at the week’s opening session on Sunday, with record turnover in share volume and value.
The price indices, however, closed the session flat as investors were active on the both side of market.
The daily turnover value reached at Taka 563.38 crore, which was the highest after Taka 576.32 crore of November 19, 2014. The transaction volume also surged to 13.54 crore shares, the highest after 15.28 crore shares, traded on November 16 last year.
The broader DSEX inched up to close at 4373.66 when the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES declined marginally to finish the session at 1656.29 and 1060.19 respectively.
Out of the traded 309 issues, 172 gained, 115 incurred loss and 22 remained unchanged.
SPCL, CMC Kamal, Envoy Tex, Alltex and Zahin Tex were the top five advancing issues when Standard Bank, Islami Bank, Progressive Life, Jute Spinning and Reckitben were most lagging issues.
Among the major sectors, textile and fuel and power gained in market cap by 4.59 percent and 1.08 percent respectively while pharmaceuticals, cement, telecom and food and allied sectors lost most in market cap.
UPGDCL topped the turnover list, followed by KPCL, Shasha Denim, MJLBD and Western Marine Shipyard.
Dhaka stocks closed last week bullish on Thursday when the daily trade value hit a 4-month high.
