BSS, Dhaka :
Dhaka stocks rebounded on Monday driven mainly by the large-cap concentration of the buyers who were cautiously repositioning their portfolio for more comfort and less risk.
The benchmark price index at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday eased up to 4554.97 with marginal increase after losing nearly 50 points in the last two trading sessions on profit-booking. It, however, remained above the psychological level of 4500-point mark as some investors were injecting more funds into their portfolio.
The blue-chip DS30 also recovered to 1722.68 and Shariah DSES to 1064.91 when the increases in the two selective indices were minimal as of the general price barometer.
The mere rise of the price indices was based on the trading of high equity scrips. Out of the day’s traded 288 issues, 207 were from the large-cap group. Interestingly, 91 issues of this group advanced out of the day’s total 129 gaining ones. Another 90 scrips from this category suffered losses while the total losing issues on DSE was 122.
Except from the debutant Tung Hai Textile, the day’s turnover were dominated by large-cap stocks as seven out of the top 10 turnover leaders were from this high-cap group.
