DSE indices highest in over eleven months

The price indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reached the highest position in over eleven months on Tuesday, third session of the week, on price rise of mostly active large-cap companies.
Among the rising sectors were power and fuel, pharmaceuticals and engineering when 110 securities of the large-cap group gained. DSEX-the broader index of DSE – gained 17.65 points to finish the day at 4,708.79, which was the highest after October 14, 2015.
The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES followed it by 6.24 points up at 1784.93 and 5.33 points up at 1129.37 respectively. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) finished on Tuesday significantly up, with its general CASPI gaining 48.21 points to close at 14,468.75.
At DSE, out of the day’s 324 traded issues, 134 closed higher against 136 losing scrips. At CSE, 249 issues traded while 95 closed higher against 117 closed lower.
The trade value on DSE was Taka 562.32 crore and the volume was 18.53 crore shares. The trade value at CSE was Taka 33 crore and the volume 1.26 crore shares.
The top five gaining securities were GBB Power, Standard Insurance, Evince Textile, Generation Next and Salvo Chemical. The major losing companies included Pragati life, Samata Leather, Continental Insurance, Rahima Food and BD Auto Cars.
