The benchmark price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose for the third consecutive sessions, with closing 8.16 points up at 4768.30 on Monday.
The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES were also up by 4.02 and 1.27 points to finish day at 1824.92 and 1175.46 respectively.
Out of the day’s 322 issues traded, 142 incurred loss and 129 registered moderate gains when 51 remained static as buying interest was somewhat subdued, leading to choppy trading.
Among the major sectors pharmaceuticals, food and allied, telecom and fuel and power increased while bank and NBFI were down.
Trade value rose by 2.06 percent to Taka 457.55 crore when the volume was marginally down at 11.83 crore shares.
The top gainers were Power Grid, Exim1stMF, Popular Life, 7thICB and Purabi General Insurance and the major losers were Imam Button, Usmania Glass, Rahima Food, Monno Staff and Monno Ceramic.
BSRMLTD topped the turnover list followed by AMANFEED, LAFSURCEML, ACI and AL-HAJTEX.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day positive, with its CSCX regaining 36.32 points to 8905.85.
Out of the traded 251 securities, 101 closed higher, 114 lower and 36 unchanged. The daily transaction was 94.72 lakh shares worth Taka 27.84 crore.
