Broad index at the country’s premier bourse-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) — gained 59 points to cross 4800 points mark in the previous week as the small cap stocks experienced some upbeat.
The daily average turnover at the DSE was Tk 451.36 crore, a rise by 1.81 percent while last week’s average turnover was Tk 443.34 crore.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX, closed the week at 4819.45 points, 59.31 points or 1.25 percent high than the previous week. DSEX closed the previous week at 4760.14 points, losing 5.58 points or 0.12 percent.
The DSEX Shariah Index, DSES, closed the week at 1186.67 points gaining 19.01 points or 1.63 percent.
The blue chip index of DSE, DS30 gained 33.53 points or 1.85 percent to close at 1848.12 points on the previous week. LankaBangla Securities, analysing last week’s market situation, said, “The broad market index ended in green zone with 59.31 points up as four out of five trading days of this week saw green endings.”
“The market gave upbeat performance on the backdrop of smaller scrips, while the behemoths remained quite muted,” the stockbroker said. Of the 326 issues traded at the DSE last week, 147 gained, 154 suffered loss and 25 remained unchanged.
The major gaining sectors of the week were Engineering 4.53 percent, Ceramic 4.0 percent and Fuel & Power 2.31 percent.
