Key share price index at the country’s twin bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – gained Monday, the second trading day of the week as prices of most of the issues increased after a mixed session.
Trading at both the bourses began on positive note in the morning on Monday and stayed positive despite some ups and downs.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 24.14 points or 0.51 percent to reach 4751.58 at the close of trading on Monday. Of the 291 issues traded, 151 gained, 98 declined and 42 remained unchanged.
During the day’s session, pharmaceuticals and textile dominated the activities after a few sessions. Telecommunication and Engineering gained much, while cement sector performed the worst.
Shares worth Tk 527.36 crore changed hands at the DSE on Monday.
The day’s top 10 gainers at the DSE were Al-Hajtex, Mithun Knitting, Beach Hatchery, Prime Finance, BSC, Eastern Lubricants, GP Ispat, Samorita Hospital, Miracle Industries, and Sonali Aansh .
The CSE key index, CSCX also gained 59.86 points to reach 9333.53 at the close on Monday. Of the 230 issues traded, 94 advanced, 106 suffered loss and 30 remained unchanged. The value of the traded issues was Tk 47.22 crore on the day.
